HINT: Students / Children! Please realise the fact that the first and last tables in the long rectangular table can seat 7 (1+3+3) and 7 (3+3+1) respectively.
Step 1. Therefore, the number of seats needed after taking away the first and last tables
50 – 7 – 7 = 36 seats
Step 2. Now, since there can be only 6 ( 3 + 3 ) pupils per table seated in the tables between the first and the last tables, the number of tables needed other than the first and the last tables
36 / 6 = 6 tables
Step 3. Therefore, the total number of tables needed to seat 50 pupils
1 + 6 + 1
Answer: 8 tables
